Hey everyone! Are you ready for some card making fun? If you were lucky enough to be one of the ‘thieves’ to ‘steal’ today’s card kit from Die Cuts With A View, then you will be ready to roll with this weeks MCM sketch. If you weren’t able to steal today, no worries! I will give you measurements on how to make a gate fold card so that you complete this weeks sketch.
I am the first to admit that I have always thought there is something truly special and almost magical about a gate fold card. I’m not sure if they seem just a little bit fancier, or what, but they make me smile and they are absolutely fun to create! My favorite is to add a ribbon closure.
If you don’t have pre-made gate fold cards to work with, it’s really easy. Simply cut your piece of cardstock to 11 x 5 1/2″. Make a score mark 2 3/4″ in from each edge. Fold the ‘doors’ shut.
I love the addition of ribbon to the gate fold cards. Here is how I attached the ribbon.
Step 1: tape a piece of ribbon to the front of the left hand ‘door’ in the center. This piece of ribbon will measure approximately 14″ long.
Step 2: Cover this piece of ribbon with a piece of patterned paper. Then tape the another piece of ribbon to the top of this side of the card. This piece of ribbon will measure about 9″ long.
Step 3: Now use an embellishment to cover over the area where the ribbon is taped to the front of the card.
Note: I added a little piece of tape to the back side of the circle to help keep the ribbon in place.
Step 4: Tie the ribbon closed! Super easy! Super cute! And such a fun way to dress up a card!
