Be.  Still.  My.  Heart.  I <3 today’s steal, the Fancy Pants Christmas Magic collection.

When I saw the kit, and knew I’d be creating a project with it I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I wanted to make a paper wreath.   I had seen one made at one of the CHA Scrapbooking trade shows a few years back and thought this collection, with its delightfully vintage feel, would make the perfect addition to my wall during the Holiday season.  I had no idea how to make one so I did a Google search and look at what I found.

Not only step by step instructions, but a wreath featuring this VERY collection of papers on the Fancy Pants Blog.

I figured that Miss Fancy Pants did a far better job than I could do demonstrating the wreath so I decided to make my favorite Christmas Craft…a neighbor bucket.

Over the past couple of years, I have absolutely LOVED creating these darling ‘pass along pails’ to go around the neighborhood.

My kids get the biggest kick out of going ‘doorbell ditching’ and not even getting in trouble for it!  :)

These buckets are *so* easy to make.  I found a cute clear bucket at my local craft store.  You can also buy regular paint cans at your local home improvement store.

There are many different mediums of adhesive that you could use to adhere the paper to your bucket.

I chose to use the Xyron as it was super fast and has great stick!

I trimmed my paper so that it was 5″ in height.  That way I had a small window of clear bucket showing at the top and bottom.  Keep in mind that a 12″ piece of paper is not big enough to go around the entire surface of a gallon sized bucket, so you will need to cut 2 lengths, trimming the 2nd piece to the appropriate width.

After adhering the paper around the outside of the bucket, I went to my ribbon stash and found a cute brown ric rac that would look great around the top of the can.  I used glue dots to adhere the ribbon.

Around the bottom of the bucket, I used some border stickers from the collection as well as cut a little bit of paper and added ink to finish things off.

(Note, if you want to re-create a bucket like mine, using the border sticker, you will need 2 kits.  One border sticker is not enough to go around the entire surface of the can.)

I then added some stickers, buttons and a chipboard snowflake that I covered with Sugar Coated Glitter from Doodlebug.

Covering the lid of the can is super easy as long as you have some sort of circle cutting system.  Actually even a bowl from your kitchen would work great as a template if you don’t have a circle cutter.  The diameter of a gallon sized paint can lid is 5 1/4″.

I then printed out a little poem onto a circle measuring 4 1/4″ in diameter.  I inked the edges and then placed it in the center of the lid.

I cheated and bought 2 bags of Crunch & Munch to fill the bucket with.  Time is always at a premium around the Holidays so sometimes it’s just easier to buy a little treat!

These buckets are so much fun to make and truly brighten the day of the recipient!

Another thing that I LOVE about this Fancy Pants kit is the sheet of paper that comes with 12 ‘tags’.  I knew they would make the PERFECT answer for handmade Christmas cards in a snap!  I truly threw these cards together in about 10 min. each!  So now the enabler part of me will jump in and say that this kit is PERFECT to complete your neighbor gifts as well as making Christmas cards.  So much less expensive than buying them and gives the added bonus of the handmade touch!

Here’s wishing each and every one of you a weekend filled with crafty time!  I know I’m headed out all day tomorrow to scrapbook!  Yipee!

Until Monday Card Madness…..happy scrappin’!
